I put this on my pups ( 2 ) and forget about it. The pups never scratch and fleas are gone.

I bought this for my 2 yorkies. I just moved to Oregon from Las Vegas where the fleas are exceptionally bad. I never had to deal with them in Las Vegas. This is the first time I used any product like this, and from what I can tell, it does work. I did see 1 flea on one of my dog’s bellies about 3 weeks after using the product, but so far that’s it. The only down side I would say is that my dogs had a bad reaction to the product. They both became red and itchy, and their skin was really flakey. The vet said it was from the tick portion of the product and to wash it off. While definitely not the worse thing that can happen, especially given some of the reviews and horror stories I’ve read, it’s definitely a markdown for me. I may consider using it again, simply because I was concerned most about repelling the fleas before they start to bite, I may use it with an antihistamine too. My vet also gave me another product (the beef flavored treat) that I may try too, but I would like to stick to this product if it works.

Please beware , do your research and ask your vet before buying and using this product. Not suitable for older dogs. Very toxic. My 13 year old Yorkie immediately started having seizures after applying this product on her back as directed by the package. Brought her to 24 hour emergency hospital and they could not bring her out of her seizure and we ultimately had to put her down. Very unfortunate and we were sad to have had to say goodbye to her with no forewarning.

We followed the instructions to a T. It’s not our first time with K9 Advantix, but it was the first in a long time, as we have no problems with fleas and ticks in our area, but wanted to make sure o ur pups were protected against them while out in the wilderness for a camping trip.
About 4 days after the application, our 6 yro Yorkie became extremely lethargic, stopped eating, drinking, and had several bouts of diarrhea. My husband noticed a rash on his back, from the base of the neck all the way to the middle of the tail. Thinking it to be an episode of gastroenteritis, we switched him to a bland diet peppered with probiotics, administered an anti-hemetic and kept an eye on his fluid intake. No changes. In several trips to the vet, we had his blood, urine and stools tested – no signs of g.i., heart or kidney issues. X-Rays and ultrasound showed no abnormalities. The doctor was at her wits’ end, as we tried and tested everything we could – when we mentioned the flea/tick treatment, she showed concern and advised us to be aware of the adverse reactions such treatments might bear, especially on small breeds.
This situation went on for almost a month until he started showing improvement. I’m cannot say I’m 100% sure K9 Advantix was the root cause of my dog’s sickness, but considering the amount of tests ran and the fact it was the only “change” in his routine over the course of that month, I can’t rule it out either. Just be careful and aware of the possibility of side-effects. We’ll not be using it anymore, and with that we cannot recommend it again. 🙁

I have 3 dogs so keeping them flee-free can be expensive. (Over $150 a month with some brands.) I think I’ve tried nearly all the various flea treatments; dips, shampoos, organic non-toxic, aromatherapy oils, powders, etc. This K9 Advantix II works better than anything else I’ve tried. Within 24 hours of first application, no fleas! And no fleas for almost exactly 30 days. It seems to have a timer on it. I lost track of the date and didn’t apply 2nd dose until I found a flea, checked the calendar and it was 33 days since 1st treatment. After 3 months of on-time dosage, no fleas on the dogs, no fleas in the house, and they don’t bring any in from outside so the repellant is also working. I was reluctant to use what is essentially poison on my small dogs, but as nothing else was working and we were all miserable, I had no choice but to try this. I am happy to say they haven’t shown any ill affects at all from 3 months of treatment and we are all much more comfortable.
