This holds my dogs bully sticks very well. Once in awhile he can pull it out, but maybe I didn’t tighten it well enough.

  2. Phil

Sturdy! My dog is safe to chew his bones now and I don’t worry about him. It holds tight and it has been our go to since it arrived.

There are many variations of Bully Stick (BS) holders, and I couldn’t decide between four of them that are all pretty similar. So, I decided to buy all four and try them out. Full disclosure, my testing was done only with 7″ BS’s, which naturally vary in diameter. All four holders are pretty good, but there are some differences worth considering. This is how I ranked them.

#1 (GoSports [Red] – 5 stars): The best of the bunch. Due to the narrow oval shape of the opening, it’s very easy to load the BS and get it aligned with the clamp, regardless of the diameter of the BS. The handle for the clamp is very large and easy to get a good grip to twist it down tight. The tip of the clamp has a flat surface, which makes it easy to get a good hold on the BS without having to align on the BS groove. The clamp also does not loosen or back-off once tightened. This all allows for minimal BS waste. The plastic material is very tough and holds up to gnawing that can happen after the BS is chewed down to the nub. It’s a good size for my 65 lb. Lab to hold down with her paws when chewing the BS.

#2 (ChewEasy [Light blue] – 4 stars): Similar to #1, and works well, but what I like less about it is that the round vs oval opening makes it not quite as easy as #1 to get the BS aligned with the clamp. Although, this might be preferrable if the BS’s you buy are really large in diameter. The clamp handle is smaller, so not quite as easy to tighten down as #1. With the ends of the holder being smaller, they’re also easier to gnaw on by the dog.

#3 (BoniVet [Green] – 3 stars): This one has the advantage of being able to screw the tip of the clamp all the way through the other side of the holder, which does allow for a tight clamp. However, I found I didn’t really like the pointy clamp tips as much as the flat ones (like #1 and #2). With the pointy tips, you have to get it aligned with the groove of the BS to get a good hold, and that is not always easy with smaller diameter BS’s. The other thing I didn’t like about this one is that even after the clamp was tightened, it sort of loosened on its own. The narrow plastic parts around the holder opening also seem susceptible to gnawing damage, although I haven’t used it enough to say if it’s a real problem.

#4 (Bow Wow Labs [Dark blue] – 3 stars): This was actually the first style I bought, but there was enough I didn’t like about it, that it caused me to look at the others. As mentioned with #3, I don’t care for the pointy clamp tip. The round opening versus oval is less desirable for small BS’s but may be needed for larger ones. The clamp itself does not screw in far enough to completely close the gap, so some of the smaller diameter BS could not be tightly clamped down, and my dog was able to get them out and swallow the BS nub. This probably only happened less than 5% of the time, but it sort of defeats the purpose of the holder. Also, the clamp can only be adjusted with your fingers, not your whole hand, so it’s a little harder to tighten and loosen than the others. The edges on the ends of the holder are hard, but easy to gnaw on. So, this model is probably OK for really large BS’s, but I found it less useful for the smaller ones.

Takes away all the worry of your dog (puppy in my case), swallowing the end of a pizzle stick and choking. Just before I received this she swallowed a 1.5 inch bit of pizzle stick (I couldn’t get it off her) and I had the worry about whether it would come out the other end or cause an obstruction. Fortunately all was well. Holds the pizzle stick really firmly and you can then take it away when it gets down to the last bit. Held in the same way as a vice. A fabulous product. Given me piece of mind. Pizzle sticks are great for keeping a puppy/dog occupied for a while.

These holders grip the bully sticks very tightly and my puppies are able to hold them in place with their paws and chew the sticks all the way down to the holder without loosening the stick and therefore preventing a choking hazard. Great product.

    Updated – 12/21 .
I’m so sorry if anyone bought this due to my review. My French Bull dog is 6 years old never had issues with chewing bones but I bought one of these for our puppy so I got the frenchie one. The first time using it ever was 7 days ago yeah yeah what’s wrong. He had it for 3 minutes when I realized he was choking he’s all upper body muscles so I could not give him the Heimlich myself thank God, my mother was here and was able to help AFTER my dog lost consciousness for 2 minutes we think. We then were able to pull it out. Yesterday I noticed my dog was not acting himself. My healthy Frenchie will be put to sleep today. Iv been up all night watching him sleep dreading this appt, running over the last week. When I realized I would be heart broken if anyone bought this because of my review and something happened. I purchased put puppy a different brand ( dude to size ) and Iv never had an issue, and her bones are much smaller and softer. Please do your research. I normally read reviews like the one posting and don’t believe them all the time. I promise my dog has never chocked on anything in his 6 years, the one thing that’s happened to him in his life that could of caused this delayed brain damage is week ago he chocked due to this holder allowing a HARD BULLY STICK TO BREAK OFF.
PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE. When trying out a bully holder ( even if your dog has eaten bully sticks without a holder fine their whole lives) do not take your eyes off your pup for 1 minute/ 15 seconds.

OG review- This holder is way bigger than I excepted (that’s what she said), I’m not complaining id rather it be bigger instead of smaller. It’s very hard plastic, seems very sturdy (my dog who’s not a chewer so I know he won’t ruined the holder itself).

I have this to my 23# Sheltie and both times he was able to get the Bully Stick out.
I don’t have a lot of strength in my hand but thought it was tightened sufficiently.

  8. Amazon Customer

I tried a few other brands but my dog easily got the bully stick out.

But this one works well! Even with a very skinny bully stick I’m able to really crank it tight and my dog isn’t able to remove the stick, as much as she tries. Very happy with this product.

  9. Sheltiemom

My dog gets lazy with chews so could only buy soft ones, got this to hold the end so not swallow and try choking herself.

  10. Amazon Customer

The media could not be loaded.

I think these are overpriced but I am willing to pay for the safety factor. I was always such a nervous wreck when the chews would get down to a small size and they get them in their mouth and a lot of dogs have tried to swallow them because they get slippery and choke to death on them so this is such a great invention now I don’t have to worry when they get down to where they can’t chew it I just unscrew it and throw the little piece that’s left in the garbage.

Slows down our dog from eating puzzles wayyy too fast. Would recommend

  12. Lillian medina

I have purchased 3 holders within a one month span. This one is by far my favorite. I bought the medium for my 15 pound fur baby because the small was just too small for the sticks i purchase. It’s perfect and light weight and she can carry it around. I also like that it fits sticks that are pretty thick although very rarely is it a hit or miss. I highly recommend this holder.

  13. S.Juckett

We can relax knowing our dogs will not swallow and choke on the last bit of bully stick. They also like to play with the holder which is fine because it is so sturdy they have not been able to ruin it.
