I really liked it a lot which is why I gave it five stars. However I had to return it because it says it was from medium to small size dogs and I have mini Australian shepherds but it’s really just for small dogs Considering the size of the ball. When I make a circle with my thumb and first finger the ball will fit inside of it just perfectly definitely a small dogs mouth and absolutely not for a medium size dog that is a heavy chewer.

We have a fetch-obsessed 14 lb dog who is relentless with her requests to play. While this is generally cute, it gets old… which is why we actually wasted $115 on this machine. The pros: the machine has a small form factor and is easy to operate. The balls were the perfect size for our little dog. There are several different settings and options for launch distance, and the launcher works reliably. The cons: It’s noisy and takes a moment or two between the ball being dropped in and the ball being launched. It produces a loud droning noise as it warms up, emits a loud beep before it fires, and then the sound of the ball being launched. The first two sounds scared our dog for quite some time. When she’d hear the first two sounds, she’d run away to safe place like the stairs and wait until the ball had been launched. While she was still eager to chase down any ball that had been launched, she had zero interest getting close enough to the machine to drop the ball in herself, which is, of course, the entire point of this device. After a LOT of treats and clicker-training, we finally taught her to drop the ball in and be less scared of the boot up & beep. It’s probably worth noting that our dog already knew the command, “Put your toy in the basket”, which made this training process easier. I’m not sure we would have been able to get these results if she hadn’t already known those basic commands. After we successfully trained her how and desensitized her from the noise, our dog still lacked interest in playing by herself. We’ve left this plugged into a long hall in our house for months, even with balls perched on the edge of the machine basket, hoping that she’d eventually tap one in and find he process fun, but… NO. She’s well aware of what the machine does, and will happily run down the hall and WAIT for the ball when she hears the machine boot up, but what we’ve come to learn is that while the machine mimics the act of throwing a ball, it cannot replace the interaction you have with your dog. In our case, our dog cares more about playing with us than she does playing fetch, so this was an expensive lesson and waste of money. And to make sure we learned it, our dog actually chewed up the original box, so we couldn’t return it either!

I kept waiting to see a review before I bought it but finally when ahead and purchased. These tennis balls are very small. Our dog is an Australian Shepherd 45 pounds And the balls are a bit small for her. I bought it because she likes to play with the small tennis balls but these are extremely small. I don’t think she’ll choke and I think they’ll be OK but I wish the balls were a little bigger. However the balls were easily broken because she likes to chew on them. I am going to see if I can find some in this size that might be a bit stronger. The machine seems to work well. It jammed once or twice but very easy to unclog. The opening is large and easy for the dog to drop the ball in which is one of the reasons I picked this model. The other model with the bigger tennis balls would’ve been better but I really wasn’t willing to spend $200. Overall it seems to work well but is likely better for a small dog. I wish they had put what sized dog it is recommended for in the description.

This review is for the mini ball launcher. It works perfectly. It launches the balls it comes with, the smallest size kong balls and even some other random small chewy balls. The balls it comes with aren’t the best; they will fray after awhile but they still launch just fine and my dog enjoys them.
I chose this over the popular alternative because of the design. It looked way easier for the dog to get the ball into the launcher. Mine has no trouble dropping the balls in. The launching noise doesn’t bother me or my dog, however, it can get annoying at times. It launches much more powerfully when the charger is plugged in. When not plugged in it still shoots straight and reliably.
I have had zero issues so far (2 months, 20+ uses).

balles de très mauvaise qualité, se coupent en deux dès que le chien l’attrape , et une fois que le chien à baver sur la balle des poils se détachent , se coincent dans la machine et la bloque

This is my 4th ball thrower and it’s the best so far. Unfortunately my only complaint is finding the right size of balls it takes the smallest size balls out of all of them did I have tried. My dog loves it She dances every morning when we go out and play with it.

I have had this thing set up for 2 days of light use and now it has completely failed to work or turn on. When I set it up and put the first ball in, it got stuck. So I took out the ball and restarted, it proceeded to shoot about 4 in 5 times and get stuck the 5th. None of the launches were the advertised distances. They ranged from 2ft to 8ft. It immediately popped the balls that came with it so I switched to the recommended balls I had bought having read other reviews about the included balls not working. After 2 days of light use (plugged in all day and night so absolutely charged) a blue light on the back started flashing and it stopped launching. After about 4 hours of the the light went out and now it will not turn on. I wrote an email to the address on the iDogmate website so will update this review if they get back with any remedies. If I dont hear back I will return this product as a complete waste of money.

Machine worked ok for the short time I had it…balls DID NOT LAST AT ALL and too expensive to replace!

  10. Wendy Smith

This is a superb item, my two little dogs took to it straightaway, I thought the whirling sound of the mechanism may deter them, but instead it excites them in anticipation of the ball being released. I’d recommend this for all small dogs who are fetch/ ball orientated. My only gripe is the tiny 4cm tennis balls are easily chewed, however I’ve discovered more solid balls that work better and last.

The media could not be loaded.

My dogs’ favorite toy for over 2 years. Overall, it is durable and well built. Unfortunately, the battery has started to die so I will soon need a replacement machine.

My only complaint are the balls. The machine uses a special ball size so other balls will not work and the cost of replacement balls is RIDICULOUS with slow shipping.

  12. Gilbo & Sherry

Fully charged battery is good for about 20 throw’s so it’s completely useless for taking it out somewhere if there is no plug-in like the beach or camping. It does work good except for the settings where sometimes it seems like they’re all the same. But it seems heavy duty, and it works even full of sand and dirt seems to run the same be built well overall.

I love this product and my dog has almost figured out how to use it on his own.
