Want An Easy Way To Keep Your Dog Happy And Healthy In Less Than 10 Minutes A Day? In addition to obesity and health concerns, many experts say that lack of exercise is a leading cause of hyperactive and destructive behavior in dogs. As the owner of two beloved Pit Bull dogs, I’m always looking for ways to keep them well exercised. My busy schedule doesn’t allow for the long walks recommended by professional dog behaviorists. I read about something called a flirt pole and thought it would be worth trying out. It works by converting the natural prey drive instinct in dogs into exercise as they attempt to catch the lure by sprinting, changing direction and jumping. So I bought one of the fiberglass rod flirt poles that are made in China. The good news is the dogs went crazy chasing the lure. The bad news is it lasted one day. One chomp on the tip of the rod and the fiberglass broke and splintered in my dog’s mouth. I was angry and decided to design my own. My new and improved Flirt Pole V2 is made in the USA using components tested for durability, strength, safety and light weight. The only toy on the market that uses bungee cord to prevent whiplash when lure is caught. Easily change lures without the use of fasteners that can injure your dog’s mouth. The Flirt Pole with the included lure weighs less than one pound. Soft, non-slip grip and wrist strap for easy handling. Be sure to watch the video to see the Flirt Pole V2 in action. you can return it for any reason within one year of purchasing for a full refund, including shipping costs (if applicable). We first discovered my dog likes jumping up at toys by accident, when trying to engage the cat. I learned about flirt pole toys and bought the one that looked the most sturdy (this one). It’s been 10 months, a pretty decent run, and we finally have damage. You can see that the wrist strap is about to separate from the pole. The rope is wearing a little thin but that happened within the first few weeks and has still held strong. Oh also one by one my dog destroyed the squeakers but that was to be expected. I’ll try to fix the strap with duct tape but otherwise will buy another one. Highly recommended.
Here is how we play. I have her wait while I get in position outside and start a 5 minute timer on my watch. I begin spinning the toy in circles, with the rope swinging around over my head. Once it is swinging, I say the release command and my dog starts jumping around like crazy and yelping with delight, running and jumping, quickly changing direction, etc. She’ll catch it at least once per minute and I let her shake it around a few times, never letting go of the pole / strap, then I ask her to drop it, which takes a few tries before she obeys. Then I start it swinging again and release her to play some more. When the timer has about 30 seconds left, I inform her that she gets a “final kill” and continue swinging the toy in circles until she catches it one last time, regardless of the timer. I praise her for her final kill and tell her “that’s enough” and she drops the toy and trots toward the house to get water (we live in Florida so it is hot). We have word buttons, so she can ask for this toy by name when she wants to play again. See pictures to understand how she feels after playing for five minutes.

I find that very few products really live up to the hype and reviews online, but I actually can’t say enough good things about this product. My dog absolutely loves it. If you follow their directions, it should last a long time. I keep treats on hand to encourage my pup to give it up without chewing it much (just enough to keep him happy and wanting more). And I get the cord out of his mouth as soon as I can too. They are not kidding about your dog being able to hurt themselves if you have a high-energy dog and encourage them to jump too high or twist, etc. Not that my dog has actually hurt himself — there were just moments in the beginning when I realized that I needed to chill out with what I was doing so that he didn’t fall and hurt himself because he was getting so insanely focused on getting the toy. And I got overly focused on keeping it away from him (it’s an interactive game, really), and he’s a very fast, very agile dog. Basically I ended up just letting him get it more often until we both got used to it. The need to be careful and safe is well-described in the product instructions though, so if you read them and act responsibly, this is a fantastic toy for your dog. We call it the “doggy fishing pole” and use it almost daily to siphon off a few gallons of energy from our very young and extremely active dog. I still use the treats though, because now he sees that as his reward for catching the toy, and lets go of the toy almost immediately when I step forward with the treat. So with that plan, I think the toy is going to last for years and years. And if/when the bungee cord or the toy on the end fails, I imagine I will be able to easily replace it myself. It’s true that it’s “just“ some PVC pipe with various items attached to it that anyone could make themselves, but I think it’s been pretty carefully engineered and tested to work well, and at this price I have zero desire to try to re-engineer something like this myself. It work straight out of the box, no assembly required, and no explaining to your dog. My dog got it instantly and was crazy for it. This is a just great product and I highly recommend it.

This is a very nice well made flirt pole. It’s lightweight and easy to use. The lure is not so good. The lure is made of fabric and the dogs teeth will sink into the fabric and at times get stuck. This is a hazard if you are using it with your puppy because it can pull his puppy teeth out.
I ordered this flirt pole really just for the pole and I switched the lure to a piece of leather.
Leather is a much better option and will not pull puppies teeth out.
Our puppies actually love the leather a lot more than the original lure it comes with.
We have a German Shepard and Welsh Corgi puppies and they both love the flirt pole.

Our dogs love this toy. It’s not like they love this one more than other flirt sticks but this one seems much more durable than most of these.

I previously made my own flirt poles using PVC, but they were a bit heavy. My dog also loves her wubba so I’d attach it to my home made flirt pole and we’d play/train.
I decided to try this flirt pole out since it looks a lot lighter. My dog absolutely loves it and the lure is super durable too! She has so much fun chasing it. I use it to teach her the leave it command and to practice impulse control. We will see how long it lasts, but it’s is holding up well so far.
My dog is a 75lb working line pitbull mix and she has an incredibly high prey drive. This gives her that outlet that she needs and she is exhausted by the time she goes to bed. I’ll be ordering another one as back up. I highly recommend this flirt pole! It’s awesome.

Must be making at least 1000% mark-up. Great simple product but have no idea of the £30 valuation, I was expecting more. Perhaps some training content or additional features other than a stick with a ribbon.

Bought Squishy Face 2.5 years ago and have three GSDs that haven’t destroyed it yet. Still going on original rainbow lure. They love this thing! When they see it they get so excited! We call them the wolf pack when they get going. They each take a position in the “hunt”. I think I get more tired than them! Nice long naps after 20-25 minutes of play time.

I love it. Cannot walk her so this is awesome to get her exercise and she loves it. Just wish I’d bought the right size. The rope is too long for 5 pound dog. 🙁
