Full disclosure: we were going to return this as it did not feel sturdy in such a wide space. However, once we reinstalled it with the metal brackets around the joints, it was much sturdier. We have two dogs over 100 pounds who can jump this gate, but so far it has held up to them crashing into it along with our one year old hanging from it.

The gate itself is nice and will work BUT for the price I expected high quality and something much better. For example, it does not lock or latch at the bottom, only on the top. It doesn’t automatically latch when it closes either, it will “close” but not actually latch so it can just be pushed open without having to use the handle to open it again. Like I said these are minor inconveniences but for the price of this gate I shouldn’t have any inconveniences…. I’ve had other gates that did what I mentioned above and were cheaper. I couldn’t find them in the size I needed so I went with this option. It will work but disappointing for the price.

I was a little hesitant to purchase this gate based on the number of 1 star reviews and some of the issues described. After receiving and installing my 57.5” to 62” gate I’m very happy I purchased it. The gate comes in three sections. The gate section has a plastic piece that it sits on. This piece is sturdy enough to do its job of supporting the gate. The two extension pieces are held to the main gate piece with metal dowels and then the joints are additionally reinforced with a metal channel piece that covers each joint top and bottom. My opening is 59” across and this gate fits in it perfectly. We have three dogs between 50 and 90 pounds and they have not been able to open or damage the gate. The gate opens with relative ease when walking through it. With this in mind I had the dogs jump up on the gate with their front paws to see if they could get it open and they could not. I do not foresee any issues moving forward and would recommend this gate.

I love the open and close mechanism on this. It’s so easy to use. We have it blocking the dogs from the kitchen, so I have to use it alllllll the time. It’s my favorite gate in the house and I plan to replace all of the other gates with ones like this. If you have kids, they may be able to figure it out, but it works perfectly for dogs and is so much easier for the humans.

This gate is thee best gate I have ever owned.
After having three kids and several doggies, I finally found a great solution to block rooms I don’t want my pups to gain entry to. This gate is easy to install, adjust and use. When it’s properly aligned the gate will close the door automatically. You can also open it all the way to have the gate remain open.
I’ve used the klunky tension bar gates in the past. They’re annoying and hard to deal with when you have your hands full. This gate is a breeze to use when coming and going and aesthetically it’s much better looking than the cheaper tension arm baby gates. I’d highly suggest buying this product if you need to barricade a room off. It will more than do the job and it looks great!

I have a couple of Yorkie puppies who are very excited to greet strangers at the door, or jump on you as soon as you walk in the door, problem is, they’re also very excited to run outside and bolt for the door as soon as it’s open and before you know it they will be out in the street and you would be lucky if they don’t get squashed like a bug. So we needed to have a gate that we could stretch across the wide opening of our house so that way we can kind of keep them back at a safe distance away so they don’t go bolting outside. This gate is built very sturdy, and it will come with what you need to get the job done. We bought it because it was wide enough to fit the Gap without us having to do a lot of fiddling around or trying to make some type of makeshift frame in order to put it between our walls. One thing I would recommend, definitely get the little cups to go underneath it to press up against your wall. The only bad thing I can really say about this which was the reason for my four stars is it’s advertised up to 62 inches wide. You are only going to get those 62 inches if you extend the adjustable bolts that come out of all four corners that go against the wall? You’re only going to get all 62 in if you extend them almost all the way out that creates a nice little gap on the left and the right hand side so if you’ve got a small dog like we do they will just walk right through it on the other side. We also forgot the order the little safety cups to put underneath the screws that you turn to adjust them tight within the wall space. Now that wasn’t that big of a deal but those little safety cups don’t exactly give you much extra so you don’t have to turn the screws out so far. To accommodate for forgetting to order the safety cups, I may do with a 2×2 fairing strip which also did the same thing to press up against the sheetrock wall and allowed me the extra fill that I needed to make up for those screws so I didn’t have to have them turned out quite so far.
