My cat has IBD and eats small feedings of soft food five times a day. I was concerned, when she switched to soft food, about how she would get her meals if I had to leave her alone for longer than a few hours. She really likes this automatic feeder, and seems to prefer it to her regular dish. It seems well constructed. I bought it mostly for if I have to go out for a day or a night… Any longer and she’d have a cat sitter anyway, but this is a great help for shorter absences. I might start using it for overnight/early morning feeding when I’m home, too. I also use it when I’m unwell and not feeling up to feeding her 5x a day. I’m not a huge fan of plastic dishes (I usually get ceramic). But it’s easy to clean. I love that it uses batteries, so there are no chewable cords. My only concern is whether the cold packs will be enough to keep wet food cold all day long. I’ve started freezing the meals, except for the initial meal in slot zero, and that seems to help – the meals defrost but still feel cold. I really like this automatic feeder, and it’s been peace of mind having it around.

Update: Raising my review to 5 stars… I have been using this almost every night overnight, lately, and also when I go out for a day and it’s just brilliant. Such a great purchase! It’ll also be good for her cat-sitter to use when needed. Also, once, it rotated with the top off and got misaligned, but it was easy to fix by pressing adjust plus the up button simultaneously and holding. I see online that there’s a stainless steel food dish insert (instead of plastic) available on the product website… Would be awesome to have this available on Amazon!

Questo meraviglioso aggeggio mi ha liberata dall’impegno di alzarmi di notte per dar da mangiare al mio gatto 🙀
Inoltre è utilissimo se prevedi di stare fuori una giornata

I have 7 cats. 3 are adult males I adopted at various times (two as strays and one from a shelter), and 4 are a litter of kittens that some neighborhood feral cat brought to my garage who I caught and are now indoors. Suffice to say, I have a lot of cats for one dude. I occasionally have to leave them overnight, so I have 6 of these feeders, a couple hopper style ones, and the petsafe 5 meal feeder that is similar to this that apparently didn’t work the last time I was gone overnight.

These cat mate feeders work really well for the most part. They’re easy to program and work reliably on AA batteries. I like that you can use the freezer packs to serve wet food although I probably wouldn’t do that if I was planning on being gone more than a day. Even my smart 5 year old cat can’t get them open, and he has definitely tried.

One of these feeders had a button sensor quit working on the control pad and I’m not sure how to fix it without opening it up. It’s only one out of the six so I doubt it’s an issue with the design or anything. I didn’t check to see if that’s a common issue, though, and if I manage to figure out how to fix it, I’ll update here.

I do wish there was a multipack of these so I could get a few more to space out feedings, since this is the only feeder model of the billion I own that I’m reliably sure feeds my cats on time and is the only one that works with wet food.

I got this for my cat about 2 years ago who passed in Nov however I believe my 3yr old granddaughter broke it a few months ago. I Decided to still use it(no timer) for my new 16lb dog(rescue) which helped make her eat much slower which is great. I finally purchased a new one and I love that I can give her wet and dry food 2x daily for 2 days using the ice packs. So you basically have a tray with numbers 0-4. When you feed you put the tray on 0 for that immediate meal then you have 4 full meals you don’t have to get up and feed them(2 days) it automatically opens to the time you set it to. I set mine for 7 am and 5 pm daily. I do recommend getting 2 extra ice packs so you can refill immediately and not have to wait for the packs to freeze. It’s soo amazing not having to put each meal together as she doesn’t like dry food alone. This is a wonderful invention for cats and small animals. It soooo worth the $60 bucks especially for cats if you are going await for the night or even a whole weekend. I got this as my mom’s cat would overeat and puke so I couldn’t just leave food out freely or id come home to puke spots. This works sooo well and you know your pet is not overeating as most pets love to just eat eat eat. I only have one animal and absolutely recommend this for small dogs as well.

I got the 3 meal size and it took me a minute to understand why you can only schedule twice in the day vs three times. The “3rd” one is the grazing cup for dry food between wet food (I give wet food for breakfast, dry food for mid day, then wet for dinner). it’s saved me a LOT of time having to get up and remember their meal times and it keeps the feeding area clean cause I don’t have food bowls with crusty leftovers or dried out wet food since the ice packs keeps it fresh! My kitties had no issue adjusting to it as well…the 3 meals size is perfect so it’s not intimidating but interesting enough to keep the girls invested in wtf is happening and fun 😺

Highly recommend the 3 meal size if you have less than 3 cats. I also purchased two so they don’t fight over who’s eating first..definitely recommend for people who struggle to remember feeding times or you like to keep your space clean (cause cats do NOT care).
I won’t take off any stars but that might be because I don’t find the smallest thing possible to complain about, the price is reasonable, and I seem to understand you’re not going to get every little feature you desire…all in all don’t be afraid to pick one up!! I wish I knew about this earlier to be honest.

We bought this feeder in order to remove ourselves from the feeding process for our very-food-focused stray and teach her patience. So far, it’s been great. We have enjoyed 3 days of not being yelled at for 10 straight minutes while we prep her food, and she is learning to wait quietly near the feeder. I looked up a lot of feeders before purchasing this one, and this seemed to be the best price/quality match for our price range. The plastic is not as high quality as I would have hoped for given the price (hence the 4 stars instead of 5), and I’m pretty sure our two medium/large dogs could bust into this thing within 30 seconds if they go ahold of it, but we just keep it out of their reach. The cat so far has not been able to get into it, despite several tentative to more aggressive attempts. She hasn’t unleashed cat fury yet though, so we’ll see. The programming is easy, though, and the 3 feed slots are perfect for our needs. Our cat does not care about the deeper dishes as some people’s cats seem to. It’s not too loud, but makes a buzzing noise loud enough to cue the cat. Three main points sell me on this feeder currently: 1) the gears lock between feeding sessions, so she can’t push the chambers around to reach her next meal early, 2) there are holes built into the bottom of the feeder where you can either screw it into a piece of wood or (as we did) use zipties to lock it onto a larger object so the cat can’t flip it (it’s not heavy, so that’s definitely a possibility), and 3) it comes with a freezer pack (though we haven’t tested this out yet). Oh also the buttons are hidden behind the shield so she can’t mess with the timing. So, solid design at least. We’ll see if it holds up. At the very least it has taken feeding time down from pure noisy stress to something approaching calm.
