  1. Lori

OK so my flea situation was out of hand. I used sooooo many products. I even had pest control come out, but they just kept coming back.

I decided to try this product partly because it was so cheap, and I had spent so much money already on these sprays.

Bear in mind that when I switched to this spray, I also seriously upped my vacuuming game. Every single day I vacuumed every single corner of my apartment. I moved furniture, I vacuumed under the rugs, everything. I think this made a huge difference.

But I really also think this spray was effective. It’s TOXIC. Basically, have a game plan, spray everything, and GET OUT. It makes me cough immediately, and honestly makes me feel sick for a couple days after spraying, but you need it to be toxic to kill these insanely resilient bugs. Please please quarantine your animals until the spray is dry and the fumes are gone.

No other products I used were as toxic as this stuff. So be careful! But since I started this regimen I finally feel safe in my home again– no longer under attack.

Also, obviously really treat your animals well with all the products you can (safely and per the instructions). And the yard!

Hope this was helpful and you get rid of your bugs asap.

I hope it works, had to spread the globs that plopped out of the can with a paper towel. There were only two short bursts of the fine spray they wanted you to use, and I did shake it according to their directions. Really very frustrating.

This was a good product. It did what it was intended for.

    Update 2/14/2021
Everything below is corrected! It has been 2 months since the whole home treatment and still flea free. The claim of long term eradicated fleas is true. Have not had to reapply! So, in addition to all the other good things, you will not have to continue to purchase more product. I do have some on hand, just in case.
I have been invaded by what I am calling “Mutant” fleas. I have always used a natural product and had great results. This year, myself and many others in the SE have had a type of flea that is impossible to eradicate with the natural products.
After several different brands of natural and chemical products with no success I looked again on Amazon. It looked like the Black Flag was a well reviewed product.
Well, I am finally flea free and have no damage to my floors. Real hardwood, ceramic, area rugs, and the painted trim areas where I sprayed to get the dormant and or larvae are in good condition after washing and wiping down. BUT, always spot check anything you will be using it on to see if it causes problems.

The spray comes out evenly, it has a white color to let you know if you missed a spot.
This is not intended for use on your dogs, and never use it on them. Follow the directions and you won’t have any problems. For infested areas vacuum up as many as you can. After vacuuming you have to quickly empty all vacuums and dispose into a bag you have waiting. Immediately, spray the contents of the bag with the Black Flag directly in the bag, tie it tightly, take it outside for disposal. Their bedding, again vacuum, spray the bedding, take outside and shake and vacuum with a shop vac. As soon as you feel that you have gotten as many as possible, take directly to the washer and wash the bedding. I wash them twice to make sure I have gotten them all. You will know for certain when you empty the lint screen. If you see any moving fleas you will have to vacuum, spray, shake, and wash again. Check the lint screen, you should have either dead or no fleas.
After you have treated your floors and the time limit is up you can vacuum again then scrub the areas you sprayed. (Vacuum as many as possible,
fleas are blood suckers and pressure will push the blood out and leave a brown red residue that will stain if you have a major infestation) I use my steamer on all the floors and in my mind the added heat helps kill the babies and larvae. Fleas cannot tolerate temperature over 103F.
The success of all the work is if you keep the dogs bathed and treated.
The Black Flag is stopping the return of the indoor fleas. Your yard will also have to be treated, and the Black Flag is another winner with the outdoor product.
As long as this mutant flea species is active I will be using it. One can is supposed to cover 300 square feet. From my use that is correct.
I do recommend this product. It does something to their system so they can’t jump and appear to go in circles a couple times and die! Happy day!

I learned about my fleas when my youngest went in for his neuter and it’s been a nightmare ever since. I don’t think we had them for very long as I wasn’t finding much evidence and my oldest had like a handful over the course of the month or so I was dealing with it and I had less than 10 bites myself.

I tried 2 other sprays and I was still getting the occasional bite and the youngest kept getting more. I bought this and treated everything and I have no new bites, neither one of the boys has had more and it just feels better around here. I bought 4 cans and that just got me through treating my one bedroom apartment. It says it helps for about 7 months so I’ll probably treat again in about that time just to play it safe. But I don’t feel that creepy crawlers anymore and my boys seem happier!

Something to note, wear a mask or something because it’s potent, I was coughing a lot the first time I used it to treat my bedroom because I didn’t realize how intense it would be and I even had a window open. Make sure you have enough ventilation, when I used it in my living room, all windows were open and I used my shirt as a cover for my mouth and nose and it helped a lot!

    12/17/23 update

So I’m coming up two months since I used this stuff and I have not seen a single flea! No more bites or anything! My boys are happier and flea free and I’m so grateful I found this product!

This was a great value but doesn’t seem to be very powerful. You literally have to use it every day or you have reinfestation….

This is the only thing that works against fleas in Oregon

I started feeding a couple homeless kittens on my patio last year and before I knew it I had fleas coming thru my patio door all over me and my cat. I keep this on hand now and spray every 2 weeks all around the door and walls outside on the patio slab and have not had a single flea make it in yet – even though the alfresco diners has increased to 6.
