I powered this off and on and recalibrated several times, but on chime only (which is actually beeping) it just isn’t sensitive enough to go off except in two or three specific locations on the mat. It’s for a cat so I moved my hand around and firmly touched the mat all over to no avail.

It works like all the other mats. Just make sure you measure and get the size you need. Turns out two smaller ones can work better than one large one.
Adjustable settings work well. Most of the time one shock is enough to deter the cat. You can drop it in front of the door and not turn it on and it still does the job.

This very powerful mat makes my cat not scratch at the bedroom door at night, it’s quit strong, so everyone only touches it once. Worth it!

Didn’t have to go this route but the pets started owning the house instead of me owning them. Vacuumed and washed quilts and throws covering any sitting area constantly. Brings some peace back to my cottage. And my dog finally LOVES his dog bed. The way it should be.

I’ve used this for a few days and it works so well! My dog got the hint after the first day. Highly recommend!

After a few months, the sensors stopped working correctly although the battery is still going strong. It would fail to trigger sometimes when the cat jumped on the counrer or would start endlessly beeping and zapping despite nothing being on it.
We thought it was due to possible residue after finding one sticky spot on it, but after turning it off, detaching the power unit, cleaning, drying completely, and reassembling, it was still hit or miss and would sometimes still go off randomly. Placing a folded-up paper towel so the power unit wasn’t directly on the counter seemed to help, but we have no idea why.

I have 2 of these in other sizes that I bought in 2015, and still work fine. This one only lasted about 4 months. Waste of $100.

Ideal pour mon chat pour qu’il arrête de gratter a notre porte la nuit et nous laisse dormir

Watch my video review for free entertainment. 😂 These ScatMats very clearly work. The third cat featured in my video, Kirby, started peeing in the bathroom sink, and our other cats started going up there too. I was afraid they’d start thinking the sink was an okay place to pee too, so I quickly ordered our first ScatMat. We originally ordered one that was too long, and you can see it featured in my video. It hangs off the side of the sink over the toilet paper dispenser, but it still works very well! Ruckus our Devon Rex cat was the first to explore the countertop. He got zapped four times before he learned his lesson!! He might not have had full contact on all the zaps, but he still persisted nonetheless. Aelius our Norwegian Forest cat had the most over-the-top reaction to the zap, taking town the toilet wipes with him as he fell and landing on the spray bottles below making a dramatic scene. Kirby was the last to discover the new contraption. It’s funny that the cat the mat is intended for the most was so stubborn! Granted, Kirby has an extremely high pain and agitation tolerance. It takes a lot of infliction (by our other cats and foster kittens) before he gets annoyed. He really can take a beating! It was funny seeing my three cats and their reactions to the ScatMat. We later ordered the medium size for the bathroom and transfered the larger mat to the kitchen countertop.
EXPERT TIP: 🌟
When you first set up your mats, leave them out with the power off for at least a few days. If you’re patient, wait a week or two before turning them on. Allow your cats to sniff them and get used to walking on them, so that when you finally turn the power on, they don’t expect it at all and don’t associate the zap with the mats. They will now associate the zap with the location, not the mat. That way, when you remove the mat, they will be more likely to continue to stay off that location. 👍

I love my cats but not on my counter! We tried everything and bought this out of desperation. Wish I had tried this first. My cats have not been on the counter since their first encounter with the mat.

Our cats were/are notorious for clawing up the carpet when they want to get out of a room with a closed door. We have had to keep our two cats separated because they suddenly decided that they should fight viciously whenever in close proximity. This means that one of them is usually closed up in the bedroom. Funny enough the other cat would also try to dig its way into the room with the other cat as well. Tried a few other things without success like double-sided tape, plastic mats, and squirting with water. I put one of these mats halfway in and out of the doorway under the closed door and it brought all the carpet destruction to a halt. I’ve had it for a month and it still functions great. I tested the shock on myself and it’s like a static electric shock, so surprising but not painful. If this thing broke after a couple of months I, I would not hesitate to buy another one.

Finally started winning on-going battle with cat to stay out of a specific room. Set up was quick and when I tested it on low with my hand I got a significant jolt. The cat has avoided it since I put it on the floor…the alarm seems to be enough to back him up. Due to the jolt, I would certainly watch the animal the first time they stepped on it just to be sure they can tolerate it.
