I wanted my energetic dog to be able to run fairly freely at the lake but without having to worry about him getting away, running to the neighbors, and not having to keep up with him the entire time by holding a leash. This product was the perfect answer (plus a 50′ tether leash). It was easy to get the stake into the ground and attach the leash. My guy is 11lbs but has a lot of force when he tugs and runs. This product didn’t even budge in the sand when I took him down to the beach. He was able to swim in the water easily and get back out when he wanted to, and I was able to swim peacefully knowing he wasn’t gonna run off or get into trouble. Overall am highly satisfied with this product!

First, there is nothing wrong with these Dog Leash Ground stakes. Solid and depending upon your soil, drive in just fine. I have no issues with this purchase because this was a great price.

However, every single manufacture of these stakes all have the same design flaw, the upper straight portion of the shank is not molded to be in the center of the corkscrew portion of the lower stake. Because of this, if you do like I do and drive the stake all the way in the ground, the upper shank will basically dig a hole as it spins in the ground, reducing the tension of the soil for the portion of the upper shank. Does this have any bearing on the ability to stay in the ground when tied to your average dog? Nope, but since I am using four of these for another purpose other than tying my dog up, this was bugging me.

Anyway, as I said there was nothing wrong with this purchase, just my own OCD about some things.

    My little dog.

Had a previous stake that someone hit with the lawnmower. This is great, it was a bit hard for me to twist all the way down but my neighbor helped. Doesn’t tangle or twist, my dog is safe and I think it will last for a long time.

It can be a little bit difficult, screwing it into the ground depending on your soil. I’ve been just putting it in dead spots on the lawn for now and have not been able to get it fully into the ground. That being said, I think a dog could pull it Out without too much effort. I got the long 25 foot leads to go with it for the cats on the smallest ones I could find and I wish I had gotten shorter ones because it’s almost a little too long and they get tangled. The loop that you hook the leashes into works well and does not get tangled up with the anchor, it works fine with cats so I would buy it again

My dog is 23 lbs but she puts all her force into pulling when she sees a distraction like a lizard or squirrel but this does not budge in dirt. I have yet to try it in sand. The handle of the dog leash fits right inside the top metal triangle and secures inside 🙂 no extra clasp needed

Does what it is supposed to. Quite easy to install, my wife could do it with no problem, and they do their job. Both pitbulls, ~80lbs each, were attached to one each and they were fine even while unsupervised.

  8. strong plush

It was sturdy enough for my 65lb Golden.

Getting the Katzco Dog Stake into hard/rocky ground is a bear and eventually after less than 10 uses, the top part snapped off.
I have found that a sturdy wooden stake with a loop of strong line on it is much longer lived. You pound it in with a sledge hammer. It is good for a permanent installation and cheap enough to make extras and just leave them in. They are quite difficult to remove.
