We adopted a 2 year old Boxer about 6 months ago. Without a fence, this product was a lifesaver. So much so, we bought 2 for different parts of the yard. Living in the Midwest, our weather can change a lot, and in December during a cold snap, the metal latch broke while our dog was attached. We attributed it to the cold weather freezing the metal. Our second one though, the slider that keeps the latch closed, no longer stays in place. In fact, this morning as our little girl jumped onto the porch, the latch completely disconnected from her collar and fell to the ground. Definitely not user error, as we make sure the slider is in place. Not sure if it’s worth buying another one that will last another 6 months or if we should find something else.

My 100 pound 2 year old pup broke the leash within a week. The stake is great, we would definetly buy it again for the stake but be careful with the leash, it did not hold for him. The other steaks were pulled out and dragged down the street but this one holds well. He is a big boy and loves to run…away…. I did purchase the one for a 200 pound dog knowing his strength.

Within 5 minutes of putting my 50lb dog on the lead, it’s saw another dog in the neighborhood and took off at full speed.
I now have indisputable proof that when an unstoppable object is tethered to an unmovable object, the unmovable object wins as far as this product is concerned.
It held right in and didn’t budge. And I’m pretty sure my dog will think twice next time it’s attached to this contraption. Looks like it is built great, it’s not a light designer dog stake. Seems like it will hold up for years. The hand grips are really comfortable, but since it doesn’t have any type of extension bar to increase the leverage when you are drilling it in it takes a little bit of elbow grease. Leverage sold separately.

This bad boy replaced a prior corkscrew-type stake that was beginning to rust, it pales in comparison to this model. From the long screw to the awesome handles to aid in screwing the stake into hard ground, this product is of great quality and function. The leash lead is really long, too, to allow for our dog to roam and do his business. Recommended!
