This product is a very good quality and the lowest price around. My dog loves this licking mat. The suction is very strong. The spatula it comes with is perfect for spreading peanut butter or wet dog food onto the mat. For cleaning I either soak it or run it through the dishwasher. Cannot wait to try it the next time I have to give my dog a bath!

TLDR: my two huskies loved it and took more than 5 seconds to finish! Easy to prep/clean (as long as you wash them immediately with hot water). Mini spatula is so cute! Would recommend!

    Review:
I have two, young, energetic, massive huskies who get very bored very easily. My fiancé and I both got Covid a little over a week ago and haven’t had the energy to take them on walks/won’t take them to a dog park. They’ve been extremely restless and under exercised as a result, so I got these in hopes that a new thing would help perk them up (we have a good selection of puzzle boxes, kongs, and antlers already, but felt that the novelty would help).

They loved them! I got a couple things with my grocery delivery (so glad that is still a thing) that are dog safe and would fit these well (I’ll list these later for anyone who’s interested). They seemed really messy after filling them with the cute mini spatula, so I put them on a wax paper-lined baking sheet and popped them in the freezer for a couple hours. (Wax paper was just to keep them from sticking to the tray. Paper towel would probably work just as well in hindsight.) I spent a pretty good chunk of time filling these because it turned the whole prep time into an activity for them. They absolutely knew these were for them, so I let them sniff and sample all the ingredients one by one and check out the mats before loading them up. They also got to lick the spoons, because obviously that’s the best part. I didn’t fill these all the way to the top because that felt like it would be too much stuff, just enough to cover all the ridges completely. If I were in a hurry and didn’t turn the prep time into a whole activity thing, this would probably take no longer than a couple minutes or as long as it would take to make a sandwich.

I stuck the mats firmly to the tiled kitchen floor for them, and it took them maybe 10-15 minutes to clean them pretty thoroughly. Next time I’ll put them on opposite sides of the kitchen so they can’t watch each other and race to finish first. I do recommend sticking around to supervise, as they’re not at all meant to hold up to any sort of chewing. Both of my dongos could chew their way through a brick wall if the brick were bacon flavored, but luckily neither tried munching their mats. Freezing it may have helped reinforce the licking instead of chomping, and the suction cups all around the bottom edge helped too.

The mats washed off surprisingly easily, though I suspect they’d be a real pain if I hadn’t washed them immediately after the dingos were done with them. Use hot water and most of the remaining food slime will rinse right off with the water pressure/temp. They’re like washing spoons though, so I recommend holding them as vertically as possible or you’re going to have a bad time. I didn’t end up using the big toothbrush thing to clean them, (it wasn’t necessary and seemed like it would just get really gross,) most of the nasty rinsed off right away and my hand and a tiny bit of dish soap was more than enough.

!!!! Disclaimer: I’m just a random lady off the internet. Do your own research, read all the food labels, and use CREDIBLE sources, none of that blog garbage. (AKC.org has all the answers and is what we check before feeding the bongos anything.) Also, especially if your dog isn’t used to people food and/or is smol, only give them small quantities at first in case it doesn’t sit well with them. (No one likes poopy dog butts, especially the fluffy ones.)

    Here’s what I used today:
    – chunky peanut butter (check that there is ONLY ONE ingredient: peanuts)
    – apple sauce
    – canned pumpkin (only made of pumpkin, not the pie mix)
    – frozen blueberries (stuck on top, though mashing fresh ones would work too)
    – frozen strawberries (stuck on top, ideally sliced)
    – frozen riced cauliflower/broccoli
    – frozen riced cauliflower/sweet potato
    – frozen peas/carrots (all these are frozen just so they keep better in bulk)

Other stuff we plan on trying next:
    – plain, low fat Greek yogurt
    – low fat cottage cheese (small quantities on the dairy stuff though)
    – low fat cream cheese
    – plain white rice
    – shredded chicken (cooked, plain)
    – scrambled egg

    Good luck, have fun! 🙂

My puppy loves these! I put all different kinds of treats on them for her including mashed banana, peanut butter, Greek yogurt, fruit & veggie pouches. Keeps her occupied for a few minutes. The brush makes them so much easier to clean as well.

This is an ok product, and better than others I’ve tried of similar design. It definitely has flaws. So 4 stars as there’s room for improvement.

    Pros:
*Grooves are not as deep as other lick mats
*Easier to clean than those with deeper groves
*Dogs can actually get all the food off the mat so they’re less likely to destroy it

    Cons:
*Suction isn’t great, doesn’t stick well to all surfaces- seems to only stick really well where I don’t want it to.
*The silicone of ALL these similar mats is soft. Will not stand up to chewing.

My dog has a strong bite and can destroy a 12″ bully stick in 10 minuets, but he doesn’t like to ruin his soft toys and lick mats. He has great bite control. So as long as he can get the food out, I can buy these for him and don’t have to worry about him destroying them. Which is why I really like the shallow groves. Then when he gets all the food out and it’s empty, he loses interest. Unlike similar mats with deeper groves, which he’s destroyed chewing on to get at the food. That being said- if your dog is NOT like mine and will chew on anything, you will not be able to use any of these silicone mats and should buy the hard mats for tough chewers.

My dog loves these! There are 4 licking patterns and my dog is always tired after engaging with these mats. However, this sticks perfectly to some surfaces but does NOT stick to wood flooring, FYI. So, just be aware that your dog will love this but the mat will slide around if you have wood or laminate flooring.

I have two more of these that are more expensive and have deeper ridges that are great for peanut butter to keep dogs busy and tire them out. Love them. The grooves/pattern on these are much more shallow and not really a challenge, *but* I’ve discovered that they work great as a slow feeder, especially for wet dog food.

A couple of the small dogs I sit want to be hand or spoon fed because they are weird about bowls. (See pic 3 for what that mess looks like!) This solved the problem with the small pom I was recently sitting–and her floofy bib didn’t get as messy. And these are WAY easier to clean off than the ones with the deeper grooves.

The little brush isn’t necessary, but I love the little spatula for smashing the food in there, which is what slows down the feeding and encourages more licking. The only minor thing would is that the suction cups are ridiculously strong! If you are using them to stick to a wall that would be great. I just put them on a textured mat so I can pick them up without a struggle.

TL;DR spend more if you want a challenging licki-mat, get these for slow feeding, especially for picky little dogs.

These mats are fabulous! They have suction cups on the bottom, have 4 sections with different textures for the dogs to enjoy and came with the spatula that makes adding food so easy!! Plus it had 2 mats and a scrub brush to help clean the mats!

  8. gia

For the price these are awesome a little bit smaller than I thought but it’s okay since I have a medium/small dog. My dog has never used lick mats before but he really loved this. They also have suctions on the bottom and the brush it comes with makes it easy to clean and I love the handy spatula as well, fits in peanut butter jars nicely lol.
