It works great. I like how it has a hole in the middle. I ended up using a long screw to attach it to the wall. My baby got pretty strong which is why I had to buy this. I didn’t want to test it for complete strength and redo it if I didn’t like it so I just added the screws from the get go.

We have dogs and needed this gate to be easily and quickly set up and sturdy enough not to be pushed out. Our dogs know not only to push on the top of the gate, but at the bottom as well to have the gate swing out so that they can crawl through. Previously we used round furniture cups [shown in the attached picture] purchased at hardware stores. These are always easy to be pushed out and have low walls.
Because the baby gate pads are elongated oval shaped rather than round, and have ribbed bottoms, we thought they would be better. Our dogs showed that they are not, although they probably would be great for kids’ gates. Our dogs were able to push on the gate from both the bottom and top to push out the pads and the gate.
Therefore, I had to drill a hole through the bottom rubber of each baby gate pad and then drill a hole on the doorway sides to mount each of these pads with a screw. Now they cannot be pushed out.
The main positive is that the center walls of these pads have higher lips than the furniture cups. This higher wall prevents the gate from being popped out of the pad.
